Ask Your Builder

Certainly you may have some questions for a professional steel builder. We've provided a few just to get you started.

Q. What is the installation cost?
A. Depending on the project, steel framed homes may be less expensive to build.

Q. Is installation faster than a wood framed home?
A. Steel framed homes can allow for greater installation speed and efficiency because they can be pre-built to the exact specifications of your home. In many cases, a steel framed home can be built in about one-third of the time it takes to complete a traditional wood framed home.

Q. Is the material non-combustible?
A. Yes, steel is non-combustible and will not burn.

Q. Does a steel framed home require much maintenance?
A. No. Steel studs won't warp, twist, rot, shrink, split or settle, which eliminates nail popping and reduces cracking.

Q. I've heard there are different gauges (thicknesses) of steel. Can you explain that?
A. The term "gauge" has been the traditional means to identify steel thicknesses. A decrease in gauge number indicates an increase in nominal thickness. For example, 25 gauge = 18 mils, 22 gauge = 27 mils, etc.

Q. Will I be able to remodel my home?
A. Yes. Since steel framing allows for larger spans, a home can be designed without interior load-bearing partitions, making it easier for homeowners to complete alterations without affecting the structure.
